Every research document rests on the work of scholars who came before. When you write a research paper, thesis, or academic report, you are not working in isolation – you are entering a broader scholarly conversation. But how do you acknowledge the voices you have drawn from, guide your readers to the sources you have used, and protect your own work from accusations of plagiarism? The broader significance: building on the shoulders of giants
